spring is here and...
summer is coming
“Since my background comes from writing I look for the narrative in a subject. It needs to tell a story. Daily life fascinates me with all the small and often hidden treasures that we tend to overlook. I then try to work it into a good composition by finding the shapes.
Simultaneously I analyze the feeling the subject evokes in me. That sets off the search for the right colors. By mixing them ferociously all my colors become family. Nothing will stop me until I found the pleasing mix of color I was looking for. My painting style is filled with strong, bold brush strokes showing my excitement. It hopefully communicates some of the positive energy to the viewer. Only towards the end of my work do I slow down to cautiously pile up the paint into smaller marks. While purposely only hinting at a certain feeling and barely referring to a story I hope that the viewer will fill in the blanks with his/her personal thoughts and feelings to engage into communication with my art.”
